Branch Campus/Additional Locations

Policy Statements

The Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT):

11.901defines branch campus consistent with the United States Department of Education definition: a location of an institution that is apart and independent of the main campus of the sponsoring institution. The branch campus is independent if the location:
  • is permanent in nature;
  • offers courses in educational programs leading to a degree or certificate or other recognized credential;
  • has its own faculty and administrative or supervisory organization; and
  • has its own budgetary and hiring authority.
11.902defines an additional location consistent with the United States Department of Education’s definition:

a physical facility that is geographically separate from the main campus of the institution and within the same ownership structure of the institution, at which the institution offers at least 50% of an educational program. An additional location participates in Title IV federal funding only through the certification of the main campus.

OR

a federal, state, or local penitentiary, prison, jail, reformatory, work farm, juvenile justice facility, or other similar correctional institution is considered to be an additional location even if a student receives instruction primarily through distance education or correspondence courses at that location.
11.903does not recognize branch campuses or additional locations as falling under the accreditation award of the main campus of the sponsoring institution.
11.904requires that each program location, whether designated as a branch campus, or additional locations or otherwise, must have a separate accreditation award.
