Staff Updates (cont’d)

Tara joined the JRCERT as an Administrative Assistant in 2023. She brings over 20 years of
support staff experience primarily working in the real estate and legal fields. Tara attended
Eastern Michigan University for Elementary Education and moved to Chicago from Michigan
in 2003. In her spare time, Tara manages her rental properties, exercises, and keeps busy
with her friends and raising two energetic boys.

We are also happy to announce that Meagan Cruz is now an Accreditation Services
Assistant. Meagan will be assisting Janet Murzyn in scheduling site visits and preparing
Board agendas.
Finally, congratulations to Traci Lang, Executive Associate Director for earning her Education
Specialist Degree in Leadership.
Well done Meagan and Traci, and welcome Krista, Catherine, and Tara!

Celebrating 40 years with the JRCERT

The year is 1982. Michael Jackson’s Thriller is released. E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial hits
theaters. Ronald Reagan is serving his second year as President. Teresa Cruz is hired at the
JRCERT.

Over the next 40 years, Teresa’s role changed but she has served as the organization’s
finance manager for the vast majority of her career. The location of the JRCERT’s office
changed several times and the staff has grown from 8 to 19, but Teresa has remained
invaluable to the organization over the last four decades.
In November, the staff celebrated Teresa’s milestone achievement with lunch and
reminisced about the path of the organization throughout its history. We thank Teresa for
her dedication to the organization and hope for many more successful years to come.
