Regard for Decisions of States and Other Accrediting Agencies

Policy Statements

The Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT):

11.801considers for initial or continuing accreditation only those sponsors or programs that are legally authorized under applicable state law to provide a program of education beyond the secondary level.
11.802except as provided in Policy Statement 11.805, does not renew or grant initial accreditation of a sponsor or program during a period in which the sponsor or program:
i.     is the subject of an interim action by an agency recognized by the United States Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent potentially leading to the suspension, revocation or termination of accreditation;ii.    is the subject of an interim action by a state agency potentially leading to the suspension, revocation, or termination of the sponsor’s or program’s legal authority to provide post-secondary education;
ii.    is the subject of an interim action by a state agency potentially leading to the suspension, revocation, or termination of the sponsor’s or program’s legal authority to provide post-secondary education;
iii.   has been notified of a threatened loss of accreditation by an agency recognized by the United States Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent, and the due process procedures required by the action have not been completed; or
iv.   has been notified of a threatened suspension, revocation, or termination by the state of the sponsor’s or program’s legal authority to provide post-secondary education, and the due process procedures required by the action have not been completed.
 v.    in which the sponsor of the program has been denied accreditation by an agency recognized by the United States Department of Education or denied legal authorization by a state agency to provide a program of education beyond the secondary level.
11.803reviews its accreditation of the sponsor or program, to determine if it should take adverse action against the sponsor or program, if an accrediting agency recognized by the United States Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent or a state agency takes an adverse action or places the sponsor or program on public probationary status or issues a show cause order.
11.804reviews its accreditation of the sponsor or program, to determine if it should take action against the sponsor or program, if an accrediting agency recognized by the United States Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent or a state agency  places the sponsor or program on warning, or any other similar status.
11.805within thirty (30) days of its action, provides the USDE, state agency, or accrediting agency recognized by the United States Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent, a thorough explanation, consistent with its accreditation standards, why the previous adverse action by a recognized accrediting agency, USDE, or state agencies does not preclude the granting of JRCERT accreditation to the sponsor or program.
11.806shares, on a routine basis with other accrediting agencies recognized by the United States Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent and state agencies, information about the accreditation status of a program or sponsor and any adverse actions it has taken against an accredited program or sponsor.
11.807may perform a site visit if the JRCERT determines that the areas of non-compliance of the sponsoring institution identified by an agency recognized by the United States Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent, or a  state agency, may have a similar adverse impact on the program.

Procedures

11.803Ainitiates a written request to the chief executive officer of the sponsor and the program director within thirty (30) days of receipt of notice seeking information regarding the action of the other accrediting or state agency and the effect of the cited issues on the ability of the program to maintain compliance with applicable JRCERT Standards.
11.803Bprovides copies of all relevant information including this written request for information and the response received from the program to the Board of Directors for its review.
11.803Cafter review of the sponsor or program, may expedite the continuing accreditation process, which includes submission of a self-study report and an onsite review consistent with JRCERT Policy 11.600 (Site Visit of the Program), or may elect to send two (2) individuals from the JRCERT Professional Staff to perform a site visit as soon as feasibly possible.  The purpose of such site visit will be to assure continued compliance with the Standards, and to determine if the issue(s) adversely affecting the institution overall have a similar adverse impact on the program housed within that institution.
11.803Dif applicable, will conduct the site visit consistent with Policy 11.600.
11.803Erequires the sponsoring institution be responsible for all costs associated with such site visit.
11.804Arequires the sponsoring institution to submit documentation to assure that the action taken is not negatively affecting the quality of the program.
11.807Awill conduct the site visit consistent with Policy 11.600.
11.807Brequires the sponsoring institution be responsible for all costs associated with such site visit.
